Black and White Guest Bedroom Reveal

Today I am sharing our other guest bedroom.. it was a blank canvas when we moved in with pale creamy walls. We have since changed out the old carpeting and builder light.. and added some much needed wall art, decor and window shades. See how I used black decor and off set it with calming whites and neutrals to keep it soft. See below for more details...

Our Antique Cabinet Vignettes

Today I am sharing our new Antique Cabinet, I feel so thrilled my Aunt Maryanne gave me this cabinet... How lucky am I.. It was my grandparents on my Dads side so it has a lot of sentimental value.. Its in great condition with the ORIGINAL stain.. So normally I love to paint all my furniture a nice neutral tone.. but for this one I am going to leave it in its original glory.. Its weathered slightly.. But its a nice rich tone. So it going to stay. It gave me a place to FINALLY display my Grandparents stuff. I have silverware from them that I have kept in boxes for 10 years.. and a Silver brush set that used to be my Great Grandmothers so over 100 years old with her initials engraved in it. Its such an amazing piece that I am honored to have. So I am so grateful that I now have a place to display them all.

Ikea Expedit Makeover

These are the Expedit bookcase that we use to have in our previous basement.. For our current house I no longer wanted dark colours in our basement.. I should have just bought white bookcases to begin with..BUT my hubby wanted the dark!.. Trust me he doesn't ask for much so I gave in..) We needed a new sofa table for our basement but a new one was out of the question and budget!! So with some paint and wood planks we did a little makeover on our Expedit Bookcase, now it flows with the rest of our basement decor. See below for more details...

Wow I guess there are fifty shades of Grey! ;) The decor theme is more relaxed with coastal touches to flow with our backyard pool view.. We kept our basement slightly different than our upstairs with more grey and industrial accents .. See the FULL reveal below..

Simple & Affordable Bookcases to flank Fireplace

So we needed an affordable storage solution for our basement.. you may have noticed that I love Ikea, especially the Billy bookcases.. so when we were refinishing our basement I searched and searched for what I ultimately created and the comparables were over $300 a piece. In total our Billy bookcase makeover was under $130.. $40 for the bookcase, $30 for each door, $16 each for the hardware and the crown moulding trim my carpenter did for free. I am so happy with how they turned out.
Have a look..
We used the Billy Bookcase as a base.
Ikea Oxberg Door and we just installed our own hardware.
Restoration Hardware Utility latches gave it the bookcases a more custom look.

And lastly to complete the look.. we had our contractor add custom crown to trim out the moulding.

Thanks for looking today!

Our FULL Basement Reveal is coming soon...

What a great looking Trash bin.. No one would ever know.. I love it.. I may be making one of these for our kitchen in the near future!

Not only is this a great looking cabinet but it also has a pull out drawer for easy coffee machine access..

What a great and simple way to make use of an old grocery cart with a drop cloth liner..

Main Bathroom Reveal : White & Grey

This bathroom was in dire need of an update. It had forest green and white striped vinyl wallpaper.. It honestly looked like it had drawer liner all over the walls. We ended up hiring someone to remove all the wallpaper and prime the walls.. Sometimes it pays to hire a professional, It took the guy 4 hrs so it was well worth it for me, it would have taken weeks with a busy little one..
