Thrift shop find Up-cycles!

A few months ago I shared my latest thrift shop finds. I said back then I would most likely be using this great linen-like checked fabric as a table runner.. Well I did just that.. Its our Summer Table runner. I have a ton of fabric so I actually ended up making 2 pillows for our white bamboo X- back chairs in our Family room too.
At first when I made the simple envelope style lumbar pillows.. I was just going to leave them plain but in the end felt like they needed something more. So I used these great large size wooden buttons that just compete the look and add to the other natural elements in our family room.

The checked fabric really set the tone for our whole Summer Decor Theme. Our full Room reveals are coming soon...

DIY Board and Batten Wall behind Bar

To commence the day our Rustic Bar was featured on Remodelaholic I thought it was the perfect time to share what we have been up to in our Basement. We added a simple Board and Batten wall, it was an absolute must in completing the light coastal look I have been craving!! Board and Batten can add such a nice unexpected detail to a plain wall, and you can't beat a makeover that can easily be achieved for under $50! See below for a step by step tutorial on how we achieved the look. And head over to Remodelaholic HERE to see our FULL FEATURE  on our Rustic Bar with Galvanized top.

Changes to our Living Room

So here it finally is.. We changed around some furniture in our living room recently as Baby #2 is fastly approaching so in order to make a nursery we had to lose a guest bedroom.. and all its furniture.. so I have been giving away wall decor and re-arranging our furniture to somehow make it all work. This is what I've come up with. You can see how our Living Room looked Before HERE

Vintage Ironing board makeover into a Planked Sofa Table.

This is not earth shattering post.. Its super easy.. Anyone could do this to anything.. Which is why I keep asking myself..  "Why did it take me 5 years to do it???"  I have had to make some changes around the house lately with the new baby coming.. so moving furniture around is one of them.  I will have a full reveal on the changes in our Living room in the next day or so. For now check our simple makeover of a Vintage ironing board below...

Vintage Secretary Desk Makeover

I have been wanting a vintage secretary desk for awhile now. I finally found this blue one on Kijiji online for $60. I bought it with the idea that I could use it in our kitchen to hide our laptop and keep an eye on the kids once they are bigger and want to be online etc. At first glance I thought the paint might be in condition but once I took a closer look, unfortunately it was a terrible paint job. I contemplated keeping it some sort of soft blue, but lets be honest I am a neutral girl at heart so I went with my go to Annie Sloan chalk paint in Antique white. See all the details below...

Kitchen Eating Area Decor - Spring / Summer

So I know this is a bit late.. but before I share our Full Summer Home decor I thought I would share our Eating area in our kitchen for the last month or so. I did some simple, quick changes to help tie it in to our adjoining Family Room Coastal decor. I love the fact that its open concept but it can make cohesive decorating challenging. Here our some things I do seasonally to help breath new life into our home and recycle my decor.. see the details below...

Our Master Ensuite Bathroom Reveal

The bathroom wasn't all bad it just simply wasn't our style. I wanted a calming, cleaner looking bathroom. So with a minimal budget we were able to make quite the transformation. Paint and lighting made all the difference. We painted the cabinets BM Cloud White and walls in BM Elmira white like our previous' home Master Bathroom. It is still a work in progress as we plan to eventually gut the shower and get new sinks and faucets. And hopefully frame the large Vanity Mirror down the road.. Oh the lists I have for my hubby.. See our simple yet dramatic changes below..

Our Boy's Nursery Plans

As some of you may remember we are having a little boy due early August.. So I have really been in 'Baby mode' for the last month or so really trying to make my vision come to life.. To give you a little peek into my brain, here is what we have planned and the direction we are going for our son's future nursery. We will be painting the walls white, Hopefully my fav. colour Benjamin Moore Cloud White. For the largest wall we will be adding white wood planks as seen in this inspiration photo below.. I also would love to paint the ceiling a very light blue, hoping to do Benjamin Moore Ocean Air colour, it just seems so serene.. Not sure if I have convinced the hubby enough on that one YET .. But I will ;)
